Senate Demands Removal of CAC Registrar-General Magaji

The Nigerian Senate has demanded the removal of Husaini Magaji, the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), following his repeated failures to appear before lawmakers. This resolution arose during a session led by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, where the absence of the CAC head was noted as unacceptable.

Senators expressed strong displeasure over Magaji's disregard for legislative invitations, which they believe undermines parliamentary oversight. Senator Sani Musa supported the motion, emphasizing unresolved issues regarding the reconciliation of CAC revenues and the need for transparency within the agency.

Additionally, Senator Adam Oshiomhole proposed that the Senate should withhold approval of the CAC's 2026 budget until the agency's leadership complies with parliamentary oversight. The Senate adopted the motion, asserting that no government agency official is above legislative scrutiny and warning that continued disregard for Senate invitations could lead to sanctions.
