Senators Rescind Call for CAC Registrar's Removal After Apology

Hussaini Magaji, the registrar-general of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), issued an apology to the Senate after senators initially called for his removal due to his failure to honor an invitation to appear before the committee. The incident occurred during a budget defense session in Abuja, where Magaji was criticized for repeatedly sending senior officials in his place instead of attending personally.

Following his appearance before the committee, where he expressed remorse and attributed his absence to a communication gap, senators, led by Sen. Sani Musa, decided to rescind their earlier call for his dismissal.

Magaji assured the lawmakers that he would establish a dedicated liaison office to handle matters related to the National Assembly and prevent future occurrences. The committee's motion to rescind the call for his removal was moved by Sen.

Isa Jibrin and seconded by Sen. Sani Daura, resolving the issue for the time being.

Magaji is expected to reappear before the committee to defend the CAC's budget proposals for 2024, 2025, and 2026.
