Senate Approves N50 Million for Families of Fallen Heroes

On Tuesday, during a plenary session in Abuja, the Nigerian Senate, led by President Godswill Akpabio, approved a donation of N50 million to the families of three security operatives and two teachers who lost their lives during a rescue operation aimed at freeing abducted pupils in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. Each of the bereaved families will receive N10 million.

Akpabio recalled that the Senate had commended President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies for their successful rescue operation that freed children who had been held captive for 56 days. The operation resulted in the deaths of three personnel: an army lieutenant, a police sergeant, and a private soldier, while others were wounded.

Akpabio directed Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele to present the cheques to the bereaved families on behalf of the Senate.
