Gunmen Kidnap APC Chairman in Kano Amid Rising Violence

On Monday night, gunmen abducted Alhaji Abdullahi Fanka, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman of Rogo Local Government Area, during a raid in his hometown of Beli. The attack occurred around 10:00 pm when armed men fired shots into the air before seizing Fanka and escaping towards Babbarika village, leaving behind three motorcycles.

Community members who attempted to confront the attackers were unsuccessful. A Fulani man speaking Fulfulde was later detained by residents for making inquiries about the abandoned motorcycles; he is suspected of being involved with the attackers.

This incident is part of a series of violent occurrences in Kano, including the recent killing of the APC chairman in Rantan village and the abduction of his wife. The Kano State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Abdullahu Haruna Kiyawa, did not respond to calls regarding the incident.
