Tinubu Appoints Fani-Kayode as Ambassador to South Africa

President Bola Tinubu has approved the redeployment of Femi Fani-Kayode as Nigeria's Ambassador-Designate to South Africa. This move comes after Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, reportedly declined an initial appointment to Germany.

He stated that he did not reject the German post but requested a redeployment to South Africa, which he believes aligns better with Nigeria's interests and his personal convictions. Fani-Kayode expressed gratitude for the approval from President Tinubu and noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, considered his reasons favorably.

He emphasized the importance of South Africa, as it is one of Africa's largest economies and geographically closer to Nigeria, which he believes is significant for foreign affairs and a pan-African vision. The announcement of his redeployment was made a few days after the initial offer for the German position.
