Trailer Crashes into Federal Medical Centre Fence in Abia

In the early hours of Thursday, a heavy-duty trailer lost control and crashed into the perimeter fence of the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia, Abia State. The accident occurred around 2:00 AM on the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpen Expressway, near Finbarr Road and close to the Abia State High Court.

The trailer driver, who declined to provide his name, explained that the vehicle lost compression while attempting to ascend a hill, causing it to roll backward uncontrollably and crash into the fence. The incident resulted in the trailer obstructing part of the federal highway, leading to major traffic gridlock during the morning rush hour as motorists struggled to navigate the affected section.

As of the time of reporting, there was no official confirmation of casualties, and efforts were ongoing to evacuate the trailer and restore free flow of traffic.
