Trailer Crash on Nkpor Bridge Injures Two in Anambra

On June 13, 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM, a trailer lost control while descending Nkpor Bridge on the Onitsha-Awka Expressway in Anambra State, resulting in a crash involving four vehicles. The trailer, a Mercedes Benz articulated truck with registration number FTD581XA, fell onto vehicles beneath the bridge, injuring two male adults who sustained minor injuries.

Four other individuals escaped unhurt. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) received a distress call at 1:10 PM and dispatched a rescue team from the Upper Iweka outpost, arriving at the scene by 1:15 PM.

Preliminary investigations indicated that brake failure was the probable cause of the accident. The FRSC confirmed that no fatalities were recorded, and injured victims were evacuated to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
