PDP Celebrates Court Ruling on Jonathan's 2027 Eligibility

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) expressed its satisfaction with a ruling from the Federal High Court in Abuja, which affirmed the eligibility of former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest in the 2027 presidential election. The PDP issued a statement on Tuesday through its spokesman, describing the judgment as aligning with the law and common sense.

The court ruled that Jonathan remains eligible to contest for the presidency despite having previously taken the oath of office twice. The PDP characterized the lawsuit challenging Jonathan's eligibility as a vexatious gross abuse of court process, stating that it was intended to distract and derail democracy.

The party welcomed the judgment alongside a waiver previously granted to Jonathan, which it believes clears the way for his presidential ambitions. The PDP emphasized that the ruling supports their mission to rescue the country and that the party's primary to select its candidate will be held over the weekend.
