PDP Supports Court Ruling on Jonathan's 2027 Candidacy

The People's Democratic Party (PDP), led by Kabiru Turaki, praised a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja that affirmed the eligibility of former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest in the 2027 presidential elections. The PDP issued a statement on Tuesday, with spokesperson Ini Ememobong describing the ruling as a reflection of the law and common sense, emphasizing that the law cannot have retroactive effects.

The PDP criticized opposing parties for labeling the suit challenging Jonathan's eligibility as vexatious and a gross abuse of court processes. They stated that the legal action was unnecessary and intended to distract from democratic processes.

The PDP also referenced a previous waiver granted to Jonathan, which they believe clears the way for his participation in the presidential primaries scheduled for May 28, 2026. The party expressed confidence in Jonathan's candidacy as part of their presidential rescue mission.
