Channels TV Unveils Plan for Transparent 2027 Elections

Channels TV revealed a significant plan to ensure that votes will count in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This initiative was announced by popular anchor Seun Okinbaloy during a live broadcast on Friday.

The project is in partnership with the civic group Yiaga Africa and is supported by the European Union, aimed at promoting democratic governance in Nigeria. Okinbaloy warned that the new framework will catch corrupt politicians off guard, stating that it will be a surprise to those who attempt to manipulate the electoral process.

This announcement comes in the wake of major concerns raised during the 2023 elections, where allegations of manipulation and lack of transparency were prevalent. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) faced criticism for failing to upload poll unit results in real-time, which affected public confidence in the electoral process.

The Supreme Court later upheld Bola Tinubu's victory, despite challenges from opposition parties led by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
