Justice Ekwo Advocates Mandatory Moot Trials for Law Students

On Wednesday, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court advocated for making moot mock trial exercises compulsory for students at the Nigerian Law School. He described such practical courtroom advocacy training as essential for developing future legal practitioners.

This call was made during the 10th annual moot mock trial event organized by J.K. Gadzama LLP, which took place at the J.K.

Gadzama Court. Justice Ekwo commended the Gadzama law firm for sustaining this initiative over the past decade and urged the Director General of the Nigerian Law School to consider making these exercises a mandatory component of legal training.

He noted that practical courtroom experience is crucial for producing competent advocates. The event featured participation from various dignitaries, including the Director General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr.

Olugbemisola Titilayomi Odusote, and other notable figures in the legal profession. The moot court is named in honor of the late Justice Niki Tobi, recognizing his contributions to legal education and advocacy training in Nigeria.
