Isa Ashiru Calls for End to KASU Strike and Government Action

On September 17, 2026, Rt. Hon. Isa Mohammed Ashiru, the gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), appealed to the lecturers of Kaduna State University (KASU) to return to the classroom amidst an ongoing strike.

He expressed concern over the negative impact of the strike on students, parents, and the education system, warning that prolonged disruptions could delay graduations and academic plans. Ashiru urged the state government to fully implement its agreements with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and to engage in meaningful dialogue with ASUU-KASU.

He emphasized that while lecturers have the right to demand better working conditions, the future of students should be prioritized. Ashiru called for a transparent review of the university's financial and administrative challenges and insisted that the government must create conditions for industrial peace at KASU.

He stressed the need for a permanent solution rather than temporary fixes to avoid future crises.
