KASU Lecturers End Strike After Salary Agreement Approval

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Kaduna State University (KASU) has suspended its ongoing strike following the Kaduna State Government's approval for the implementation and domestication of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement for KASU academic staff. This suspension takes effect from 12:01 am on September 18, 2026.

The decision was made after a union congress unanimously accepted the state government's approvals, which also included the payment of nine months' accrued arrears from January to September 2026. KASU-ASUU Chairman Abubakar Abdullahi and Secretary Silas Bakut announced this in a statement after the congress meeting.

Governor Uba Sani's approval for the agreement's implementation is set to commence in October 2026. The union praised the government's negotiation team for their dedication and the university management for their support during negotiations.

The union emphasized that the resolution of the dispute was significant as it ensured that neither the lecturers nor the union members faced threats or intimidation.
