Kaduna Communities Raise Alarm Over Escalating Killings and Abductions by Bandits

Kaduna communities, particularly in Lere Local Government Area and Birnin Gwari, are experiencing a severe security crisis characterized by ongoing killings and abductions by bandits. Recent attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 12 residents, with dozens more abducted.

The Akurmi community held a press conference to highlight the dire security threats, emphasizing the systematic and widespread nature of the attacks that have left many feeling neglected and vulnerable. The Akurmi Development Association President, Yakubu Maigamo, expressed concerns over the lack of adequate security responses and called for immediate government action to protect the affected communities.

The Emir of Birnin Gwari Progress Union also decried the violence, citing instances of killings and theft in the region. The Kaduna State Police Command is yet to provide a formal report on the incidents, with affected communities demanding increased security presence to ensure the safety of residents.
