Governor Uba Sani Advocates for Women in Agribusiness

On International Women's Day, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani emphasized the need for support for women in agribusiness, stating that empowering women with mechanized farm tools will significantly boost agricultural productivity, strengthen food security, and expand economic opportunities across Nigeria. The event, represented by Deputy Hadiza Balarab, symbolized a quiet revolution in the agricultural sector driven largely by women.

Governor Sani noted that mechanization goes beyond just using machines; it improves productivity, enhances efficiency, and reduces labor burdens, creating new economic opportunities for farmers. He acknowledged that women farmers often juggle farm work and household duties, and access to mechanized equipment can ease their workload and increase their income.

Despite their vital contributions to the agricultural value chain, women face significant barriers, including limited access to land, finance, and modern technology. Aisha Bako, president of the Women Mechanis Agricultural Association, highlighted the association's growth from six members in 2019 to 2,900 women today, providing mechanized services across several states.
