Kaduna State Invests in Agriculture to Empower Farmers

On Thursday, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State announced significant investments aimed at strengthening agricultural value chains and empowering farmers to enhance productivity. During the flag-off of a livestock intervention program, he revealed that 5,000 cooperatives would benefit from the distribution of livestock and modern agricultural technologies.

The initiative includes the provision of 500 solar-powered freezers, 300 feed millers, and 200,000 day-old chicks to farmers across 23 local government areas. The governor emphasized the importance of these investments in supporting food security and enabling Kaduna to feed itself while contributing to national exports.

Additionally, the administration plans to distribute 100 residue crushers and 50 fodder choppers to pastoralist groups to improve livestock feed availability. Sani highlighted the establishment of veterinary clinics and the mobilization of veterinary teams to ensure animal health.

The governor also mentioned broader agricultural reforms aimed at empowering 69,000 crop farmers and improving market access for nearly one million smallholder farmers.
