Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Unveils Agricultural Transformation Plan

Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, outlined a comprehensive strategy to transform the agricultural sector, positioning Kaduna as the agricultural capital of northern Nigeria. During a livestock intervention distribution event, Sani, alongside Deputy Governor Hadiza Balareb, announced the distribution of resources to 5,000 farmer cooperatives across the state's 23 local government areas.

The initiative includes the provision of 500 solar-powered freezers, 300 feed millers, 3,000 bags of poultry feed, and 200,000 day-old chicks. Sani highlighted that the goal is to enable Kaduna to feed itself and support national exports.

The intervention aims to directly benefit the farmer cooperatives, particularly focusing on women and youth, to enhance productivity and income opportunities. Furthermore, Sani noted the government's ongoing investments in the livestock value chain, including the rehabilitation of abattoirs, construction of veterinary clinics, and deployment of veterinary teams to ensure animal healthcare and vaccination campaigns for 850,000 cattle, 250,000 sheep and goats, and 250,000 poultry.
