Uba Sani Declares Zero Tolerance for Conflict Merchants

On February 2, 2026, during an iftar gathering with security chiefs, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State declared a zero-tolerance policy towards individuals he termed "conflict merchants." He warned that any conduct breaching peace and security would not be tolerated, particularly in the politically diverse environment of Kaduna State. Sani emphasized that freedom of speech does not permit the dissemination of falsehoods that could incite crises, leading to loss of lives and property.

He reiterated that the state would take action against those attempting to disrupt peace for political gain. The governor also mentioned that political campaigns would commence soon, with primary elections scheduled to begin at the end of April and conclude in May, as per the timetable released by INEC.

Sani called for collaboration among security agencies, local government chairmen, and traditional and religious leaders to enhance intelligence gathering and maintain harmony in the state.
