Uba Sani: No Demolition Without Compensation in Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani announced that his administration will not demolish buildings without providing adequate compensation to property owners affected by government projects. This assurance was made during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of compensation to 189 households impacted by the Rigasa township road project.

Governor Sani emphasized that public interest should not override the rights of citizens to their properties without restitution. He acknowledged the moral challenges faced by the government in discovering homes and businesses within project designs and directed that construction activities be temporarily slowed to allow for a transparent assessment of affected properties.

The governor noted that compensation is essential for enabling homeowners to relocate and rebuild with dignity. He highlighted that the state government has disbursed a total of N2.85 billion in compensation across various infrastructure projects, affecting households in locations such as Mahuta, Rabah, Zaria, Dogon Bauchi, and Kakiyeyi.
