NUC Grants Operational Licence to Omega University, Kaduna

The National Universities Commission (NUC) officially granted an operational licence to Omega University, Kaduna, allowing it to transition from a proposed institution to an operational one. The licence was presented on Friday in Abuja by the NUC's Executive Secretary, Prof.

Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, during a ceremony attended by the university's promoters and management. This approval enables Omega University to commence academic activities and admit its pioneer students in the 2026/2027 academic session, with the institution approved to offer 10 undergraduate programmes.

Prof. Ribadu congratulated the promoters for meeting the NUC's stringent requirements and emphasized that this marks the beginning of a new era for the university.

He also announced that Kaduna State University (KASU) would serve as the mentor institution, providing academic guidance and support. Ribadu urged the university's management to maintain quality assurance and regulatory compliance, stating that obtaining the licence is just the beginning of their journey.
