NUC Approves 24 New Programmes for KWASU Starting 2026

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the full-time take-off of 24 new programmes at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, starting from the 2026/2027 academic session. This approval was communicated in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, signed by NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei.

According to a statement from the Director of University Relations, Professor Saeedat Aliyu, the new programmes consist of 14 undergraduate and 10 postgraduate offerings. The undergraduate programmes include B.Sc.

Architecture, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, B.Sc.

Surveying and Geoinformatics, B.Nsc. Nursing Science, and several others.

The postgraduate programmes encompass M.A. and Ph.D. in Fine and Applied Arts, M.A. Linguistics, and Ph.D. in Hospitality and Tourism Management, among others.

In response to the approval, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh expressed his excitement and congratulated the university staff for their efforts in the successful resource verification exercise by the NUC.
