Kaduna Stakeholders Endorse HiiL Guidelines for Peace

Stakeholders across Kaduna State have endorsed the newly launched guidelines by the HiiL (Hague Institute for Innovation of Law) as a roadmap to achieve lasting peace, particularly in relation to the ongoing farmer-herder conflicts. The guidelines were unveiled to enhance peace resilience in Nigeria, supported by the UK Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO).

Mariam Abba, who oversees HiiL operations, emphasized the importance of extensive consultations with stakeholders and rigorous research to capture diverse perspectives. The initiative has trained 2,400 individuals across four states, including 600 in Kaduna, to serve as mediators and peace facilitators.

Chief Judge of Kaduna State, Muhammadu Lawal Bello, welcomed the guidelines, reaffirming the judiciary's commitment to peace coexistence. Community leader Isyaku Garba praised the initiative, highlighting the potential for peace when communities collaborate.

Dr. Sule Shuaibu noted the need for an inclusive approach to address conflict escalation and commended HiiL for its intervention in the state.
