Uba Sani Launches Livestock Intervention for 5,000 Cooperatives

On Thursday, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State launched a livestock intervention program aimed at benefiting 5,000 cooperatives across the state. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance agricultural productivity and food security in Northern Nigeria.

The program includes the distribution of 500 solar-powered freezers, 3,000 bags of poultry feed, and 200,000 day-old chicks to organized farmer cooperatives in 23 local government areas. Deputy Governor Dr.

Hadiza Balarab was present at the event. Governor Sani emphasized the importance of strengthening the livestock value chain and expanding access to modern technology for farmers, particularly women and youth.

The initiative also includes the rehabilitation of abattoirs, construction of veterinary clinics, and deployment of veterinary teams to ensure animal healthcare. Additionally, the governor announced the distribution of 100 residue crushers and 50 fodder choppers to enhance feed availability.

This program complements other agricultural reforms aimed at empowering nearly 69,000 crop farmers in the state.
