Uba Sani Launches Electricity Access Initiative in Kaduna

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna stated that access to electricity will no longer be a privilege but a right for every community in the state. During a ceremony, he launched a project to distribute 600 transformers and deploy 10,000 solar-powered street lights across 23 local governments.

This initiative aims to boost economic activities and strengthen small and medium enterprises. Sani emphasized that reliable electricity is essential for various sectors, including healthcare, where it will improve service delivery in hospitals and primary healthcare centers.

The governor noted the completion of a solar mini-grid installation project funded by the Indian Exim Bank, which will deliver 1.35 megawatts of clean energy to 190 primary healthcare centers and restore 32 abandoned systems. He also mentioned the completion of a long-stalled 2x60MVA 132/33KV substation in the green economic zone of Maraban Jos, which is expected to enhance electricity supply in the region.
