Kano Police Commissioner Warns Against Misconduct

On Monday, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, issued a warning to officers of the Kano State Police Command against misconduct and extortion. In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Bakori stressed that any officer found guilty of misconduct, extortion, or abuse of power would face strict disciplinary action.

This warning was part of a strategy meeting held at the command headquarters in Bompai. Bakori emphasized the importance of professionalism, accountability, and integrity in police operations, urging officers to resist external influences and act in accordance with the rule of law.

He also called for officers to strengthen community policing efforts, build trust with residents, and treat members of the public with courtesy and dignity. Additionally, Bakori directed supervisory officers to mentor junior personnel to ensure discipline across all units.

He acknowledged the efforts of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu in crime control and noted recent successes in intelligence-led operations leading to arms recovery.
