IGP Disu Urges Proactive Policing in Kano State

On a recent visit to Kano State, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu charged officers of the Kano State Police Command to sustain proactive operations against criminal elements threatening the state's security and economic stability. He delivered this message during a strategic engagement at the command headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

Disu commended the personnel for their recent successes, including the arrest of a bandit kingpin. He outlined six key pillars of the current police reform agenda, urging the command to leverage data analytics and digital forensics to track criminal networks and identify crime hotspots.

The IGP directed officers to intensify efforts against violent youth gangs and cyber-enabled financial crimes. Kano State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori reported that the command had arrested and prosecuted 1,357 suspects for various offenses since January 2026, attributing success to intelligence-led policing and community engagement initiatives.
