Ganduje's Son Joins NDC, Seeks House of Reps Seat

Abdulaziz Umar Ganduje, the eldest son of former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has officially joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and has picked up nomination forms to run for the House of Representatives seat in the Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency. Abdulaziz has long been a supporter and dedicated member of the Kwankwasiyya political movement, despite his father's significant role in the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the years.

A viral video showed him discussing his political ambitions and confirming his decision to seek the nomination. This move marks a significant moment in the ongoing rivalry between his father and Rabiu Kwankwaso, two influential leaders in Kano politics, whose partnership reportedly fell apart a year ago.

Abdulaziz has distanced himself from his father's political group, aligning instead with the Kwankwasiyya movement, which has been noted for its heated disagreements with the APC. His brother, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, previously attempted to win the APC candidacy for the 2023 elections but lost to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
