Kano State's IGR Hits N102 Billion in 2025

Kano State's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) reached N102 billion in 2025, as disclosed by Dr. Zaid Abubakar, the Chairman of the Kano Internal Revenue Service, during the agency's annual dinner and award night held on Sunday.

This figure represents a substantial increase from N74 billion in 2024, indicating nearly a 100% growth. The agency aims to achieve N200 billion in revenue by 2026, attributing this ambitious target to improved institutional restructuring, stronger compliance systems, and enhanced collaboration with stakeholders.

The reforms include a significant overhaul of the revenue law administration and the establishment of a centralized revenue service to improve efficiency and oversight. The agency is also focusing on integrating with the federal tax system to enhance data sharing and decision-making.

The ongoing tax reforms will leverage the National Identification Number (NIN) to nearly double revenue generation by 2026.
