Kano Governor Abba Yusuf Defends Land Allocations

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf stated that his administration's allocation of 1,540 plots of land is intended to reduce the housing deficit, empower citizens, and create wealth for families. This was communicated in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, and shared with PUNCH Online.

The allocation, which also includes N100 million to leaders of the All Progressives Congress Polling Unit Supporters Association, has faced backlash from residents who view it as a bribe ahead of the 2027 general elections. The governor made these remarks while distributing title documents to his Senior Special Assistants and other aides at the Government House on Saturday.

He emphasized that the program is about property ownership and providing a foundation for vulnerable groups. The Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abduljabar Umar, noted that the number of plots allocated exceeds those from previous administrations.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude and pledged to support the governor's re-election efforts.
