Kano State to Build 1,800 Housing Units Across LGAs

The Kano State Government has announced a housing initiative to construct 1,800 houses, with 50 units in each of the 36 local government areas outside the state capital. Architect Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, the State Commissioner for Housing, revealed this plan during an inspection tour for the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) delegation, led by Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs.

The housing program will feature five-bedroom duplexes and three- and five-bedroom terraced units, along with essential infrastructure to create complete residential communities. This initiative aims to extend urban development beyond Kano metropolis, alleviating congestion and making affordable housing accessible.

The delegation also inspected the Gida-Gida Mega Housing City in Dawakin Kudu, where 480 housing units are under construction. The Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, commended the media's role in combating fake news, especially during election cycles.

The visit included a stop at Northwest University, Kano, where the Vice-Chancellor reported significant progress on the Faculty of Humanities.
