Kano Governor Urges Support for Tinubu's 2027 Re-election

On September 28, 2026, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf called for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, advocating for the completion of an eight-year power-sharing arrangement between the North and South. Speaking at the Government House in Kano during the distribution of 50 branded vehicles donated by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) to support the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yusuf stated that the North had already completed its tenure under former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2023.

He argued that the South should be allowed to complete its own eight years under Tinubu before power returns to the North in 2031. Yusuf noted that Tinubu has served for three and a half years, leaving another four-year term to fulfill the agreed power rotation.

He appealed to northerners, particularly in the North-West, to support Tinubu’s re-election and emphasized the need for peaceful, issue-based campaigns focused on development. Yusuf also acknowledged Tompolo's contribution to the APC's campaign efforts.
