ADC Endorses Sheikh Khalil for Kano Governorship

Stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have endorsed Sheikh Khalil as their candidate for the Kano governorship after he emerged victorious in the primary elections held on May 22, 2026, securing 55,851 votes against his opponent, who received 4,000 votes. Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad Mabo, an elder in the party, stated that the outcome of the primary should be respected and that the endorsement reflects the collective position of the party.

Mabo criticized attempts to alter the election results, labeling them unconstitutional and detrimental to the party's credibility. He highlighted Khalil's financial strength and referenced historical electoral successes in Kano, noting that character and integrity often outweigh financial resources in elections.

The ADC's national leadership was urged to respect the primary election results to avoid internal divisions. Meanwhile, Alhaji Amin Ibrahim Little and Adnan Mukhtar Tudun Wada dismissed the endorsement, indicating that the state chairman's position would soon be reconstituted to address issues concerning political office aspirants across the country.
