ADC Doubts Ibrahim Khalil's Governorship Ticket in Kano

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has indicated that Ibrahim Khalil is unlikely to secure the party's governorship ticket for Kano State in the upcoming 2027 elections due to his alleged support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. During a press conference held in Kano on Monday, Naja Atu Moham, the party's Deputy National Chairman for the Northwest, noted that Khalil has openly shown support for Tinubu on several occasions.

This has raised concerns within the party regarding Khalil's commitment to the ADC, particularly in light of the party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Moham stated that it is difficult for the party's seven-member consensus committee, led by Ben Obi, to endorse an aspirant whose loyalty is in question.

She emphasized the economic and security challenges facing Northern Nigeria, arguing that the people in the region would be hesitant to support a politician perceived to be aligned with Tinubu's administration. The ADC also announced the inauguration of a new caretaker committee to oversee its affairs in Kano State, headed by Umar Bala.
