APC Alleges Third-Term Agenda in Kano Guber Race

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has alleged that the nomination of Mustapha Kwankwaso as the deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 elections exposes a third-term agenda by his father, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Mustapha, the eldest son of the former Kano State governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, was nominated alongside Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

This development follows the resignation of Abba Kabir Yusuf and three commissioners amid political realignments. APC chairman Umar Haruna Doguwa expressed that the nomination is an attempt by Kwankwaso to maintain political control in the state.

Doguwa further alleged that Kwankwaso had previously explored legal options to secure a third term in 2015, claiming constitutional limits did not apply to consecutive terms. The political tension in Kano has escalated following Governor Yusuf's defection from the APC, which has sparked reactions from the Kwankwasiyya Movement, vowing to reclaim power in the upcoming elections.
