Kano LG Revokes Private School Licenses Over Rape Case

The Kano Local Government, led by Education Councillor Abdullahi Wakili, has revoked the licenses of private schools in response to serious allegations against a teacher at Al Hade Private School, known as Uncl Kamal. He is accused of sexually abusing four underage female pupils.

The decision was made during a review meeting aimed at improving school administration and addressing security and moral challenges in the area. LG Chairman Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu has directed private school owners to appear before a screening committee for a fresh evaluation.

This action follows the closure of Al Hade Private School in Inusawa, Ungogo, and the teacher's arraignment in a magistrate court in Kano's Nomansland area on rape charges. The court has ordered his remand in custody, with the case adjourned until June 9, 2026.

The local government is taking necessary measures to restore confidence in private schools and ensure that schools are safe havens for children.
