NNPP Accuses Kano State Government of Witch-Hunt

The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has publicly accused the state government of engaging in a witch-hunt against its members. In a statement issued by Engr. Ibrahim Karay, the party claims that the government's recent actions are undemocratic and intended to intimidate its members.

The NNPP alleges that the government has begun retracting Hajj seats that were previously allocated to its members, affecting individuals including former commissioners and party leaders. Karay emphasized that these actions undermine the privileges entitled to citizens of Kano State.

Furthermore, the NNPP accused the state government of harassing and intimidating former political office holders by demanding the return of official vehicles allocated during their tenure, which the party described as part of a broader strategy to consolidate power. The NNPP has called for the government to cease actions that undermine democratic principles and has urged respect for constitutional rights and the freedom of association.
