Kano Pension Board Seeks Court Order for N5.3m Recovery

The Kano Pension Board has initiated legal proceedings to recover N5,346,587.16 that was mistakenly transferred to an incorrect bank account during a bulk pension payment exercise. Sunusi Aminu Rano, the Director of Finance at the Kano Pension Board, disclosed that the error arose during the primary data collection process when the last two digits of the intended beneficiary's account number were incorrectly entered as 38 instead of 83.

Upon discovering the mistake, the board promptly contacted Jaiz Bank to formally notify them of the erroneous transfer. Jaiz Bank informed the board that regulatory procedures require a court order to reverse the funds.

Consequently, the Kano Pension Board has already begun the legal process to obtain the necessary court order and expects to be ready by Monday to present it to Jaiz Bank for the immediate reversal of the funds. The board expressed regret over the unfortunate error and reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the matter transparently and lawfully.
