Kano Police Rescue Kidnapped Boy, Arrest Ten Suspects

The Kano State Police Command successfully rescued nine-year-old Ubaiyu Muhammad Sammani, who had been kidnapped on July 6, 2023. His father reported the abduction on July 9, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of $30,000.

Following sustained intelligence-led operations and community collaboration, the police's Anti-Kidnapping Unit, supervised by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, rescued the boy unharmed on July 31 at approximately 8:30 a.m. in Karshen Kwata, Rimin Kebbe. The operation led to the arrest of ten suspects, including nine men and one woman, who played various roles in the kidnapping.

One suspect, Abubakar Salihu, known as “Sankolo,” is identified as the alleged mastermind and remains at large. The rescued boy was taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for a medical examination, confirming he was unharmed.

The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations. Commissioner Bakori commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for their professionalism and urged public cooperation with security agencies.
