Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest 10 Suspects in Kano

The Kano State Police Command successfully rescued nine-year-old Ubaiyu Muhammad Sammani, who had been kidnapped on July 6, and arrested 10 suspects linked to the abduction. The operation took place on a Friday after weeks of intelligence-led efforts by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, announced the rescue, stating that the boy was found unharmed at approximately 8:30 a.m. in Karshen Kwata, Rimin Kebbe, behind the residence of the alleged mastermind, Abubakar Salihu, who remains at large. The boy's father reported the kidnapping on July 9 after the abductors demanded a ransom of $30,000.

The police utilized intelligence gathering and community-based information to apprehend the suspects, which included nine men and one woman. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori commended the operatives and assured the public of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and related crimes, urging residents to provide timely information to the police.
