Kano Investigates Child Trafficking and Illegal Adoption

The Kano Commission for Women Affairs is probing allegations of child trafficking and illegal adoption concerning two children reportedly taken from vulnerable young women in the Kwana Hudu area of Kano. Amina Abdullahi Sani, the Commissioner, stated that any individuals found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.

The case, which has drawn attention from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), involves preliminary findings indicating that the children were allegedly obtained from young women facing unwanted pregnancies and taken outside Kano State without following due legal processes. The investigation suggests that the children may have been transferred to non-Muslim families outside the state, violating their religious and cultural rights.

The commission condemned these actions as criminal and unacceptable, urging residents to report any suspicious activities related to child trafficking and illegal adoption. The investigation is ongoing, with assurances of appropriate legal action against those responsible.
