Kano Commission Recovers Vehicles from Ex-Commissioners

The Kano Public Complaints Commission, under the leadership of Chairman Sa Idu Yahaya, conducted a recovery operation on Thursday to reclaim official vehicles from former commissioners who had resigned from the Yusuf government. This action was initiated following formal complaints regarding the alleged refusal of these former officials to return government property.

Yahaya emphasized that the recovery of these vehicles was necessary due to the failure of the former officials to comply with official requests. So far, five vehicles have been recovered, with two identified as official vehicles purchased by the government, while three were found to be vehicles not originally owned by the government.

An investigation is set to determine whether these vehicles were sold or procured unlawfully. Yahaya dismissed any suggestions that the operation was politically motivated, asserting that it was strictly within the commission's statutory responsibilities to safeguard public property.

He assured that similar measures would be taken against any officials found to have mismanaged or unlawfully retained government assets.
