Kano Court Denies Former Commissioners' Vehicle Retention

The Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Mahmood Abba Namtari, refused an ex parte application from former commissioners of the Kano State Executive Council seeking to restrain the state government from retrieving their official vehicles. The court declined to grant the interim order requested and scheduled the matter for further proceedings on March 10, 2026.

The former commissioners, including Yusuf Kofar Mata (Science and Technology), Ibrahim Umar (Internal Security), Nasir Garo (Special Duties), Adamu Aliyu Kibiya (Humanitarian Affairs), and Mustapha Kwankwaso (Youth), contended that they were entitled to retain the vehicles allocated to them during their tenure. They argued that the vehicles were part of their service conditions and that a letter from the state government demanding their return was unwarranted.

The Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission is involved in the case, with a legal team representing the former commissioners.
