Kano Rep Aliyu Sani Madakin Gini Joins APC from NNPP

On March 10, 2026, Aliyu Sani Madakin Gini, a member of the House of Representatives representing Dala Federal Constituency, announced his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). In his resignation letter addressed to the NNPP chairman of Yalwa Ward in Dala Local Government Area, Kano State, Gini cited ongoing internal crises within the NNPP as a significant factor in his decision.

He has previously distanced himself from the Kwankwasiyya movement and abandoned the red cap associated with the group while maintaining his membership in the NNPP. Gini's latest decision follows consultations and support across his constituency.

His move is attributed to divisions within the NNPP, which has seen a split between factions loyal to its founder, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and those aligned with Bonifac Aniebonam, indicating a parallel leadership structure at both ward and national levels.
