Kano SUBEB Enhances Training for Safer Schools

The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), led by Executive Chairman Malam Yusuf Kabir Mondai, is intensifying its training programs to foster safer and more inclusive educational environments across the state. The initiative aims to train 252 participants, which includes 112 head teachers and 140 head unit heads from 28 non-planned local government areas.

The training, designed by Kano SUBEB, focuses on equipping stakeholders with essential knowledge and skills to safeguard schools, ensuring they become secure spaces for effective teaching and learning. The program adopts a train-the-trainer approach, empowering head teachers to cascade knowledge to other teachers.

Training will be conducted in five clusters across the state, with Kiru serving as a key center. The modules cover various topics, including safeguarding concepts and abuse disclosure, establishing effective safeguarding structures within schools.

The program also emphasizes creating clear referral pathways within the school system to address abuse issues properly.
