APC Targets Shekarau Amid Political Shifts in Kano

The political landscape in Kano State is experiencing significant shifts as the All Progressives Congress (APC) actively seeks to recruit Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, a prominent political figure, following Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's recent defection to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). This defection has raised concerns about the stability of the Kwankwasiyya political structure, which is centered around Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Ahm Aruwa, the APC's state public relations officer, confirmed ongoing high-level discussions aimed at persuading Shekarau to join the APC, expressing optimism about the outcome. The APC's strategy includes accommodating new members through a 40-60 formula approved by the party's national chairman, Prof. Nentaw Yilwatda, to ensure inclusivity.

The party aims to consolidate its dominance across all 44 local government areas in Kano State, especially in light of ongoing development projects. The political undertones have intensified following the death of Shekarau's elder brother, Dahiru Shekarau, which has drawn attention to the former governor's influence in Kano politics.
