Kaduna Government Approves N300m for KASU Lecturers

The Kaduna State Government has established a nine-member committee to negotiate with the Kaduna State University (KASU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other staff unions regarding their outstanding demands. The government has also approved an immediate payment of N300 million as Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) to KASU academic staff.

This decision follows a two-week ultimatum issued by ASUU-KASU to the state government and KASU management concerning the implementation of their demands. Dr Abdulkadir Meyere, Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, stated that the committee's purpose is to review the demands of various unions, including the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union.

The N300 million payment is part of the Uba Sani administration's efforts to address over N800 million in accumulated entitlements dating back to 2016. The committee, chaired by Prof Abubakar Sani Sambo, has four weeks to complete its assignment and submit recommendations.
