Father Arrested for Allegedly Killing Daughter in Katsina

Kabir Sani, a commercial driver residing in the Shagari Low-Cost area of Katsina metropolis, was arrested by the Katsina Central Market Police Division following the alleged killing of his daughter, who was believed to be between 16 and 18 years old. The incident occurred after the daughter resisted her father's attempts to marry her off to a suitor of his choice, leading to family tension.

Witnesses reported that Sani began assaulting his daughter on Wednesday, and despite neighbors hearing her cries and attempting to intervene, he refused to open the door. The beating continued into Thursday morning until the girl became unconscious.

Friends visiting on Thursday discovered her lifeless body while Sani was preparing her for burial and alerted neighbors, who then contacted the police. The deceased was buried on Thursday morning at the Abbatoir Cemetery according to Islamic rites.

DSP Sadik Aliyu, spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, confirmed the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the girl's death.
