Katsina State Launches Committee to Address Insecurity

On Tuesday, Governor Dikko Umar Radda inaugurated the Katsina State Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) Peace and Security Committee at the Muhammadu Buhari House in Katsina. This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen peacebuilding and tackle insecurity in the state, aligning with national strategies to promote sustainable peace and stability.

The committee is tasked with overseeing disarmament, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs designed to encourage individuals and groups to renounce violence. Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari will serve as the committee's secretary, which includes representatives from security agencies, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and civil society groups.

Additionally, the state government has assumed responsibility for the medical treatment of victims injured in recent banditry attacks, ensuring they do not bear the costs alone. Governor Radda directed the committee to monitor the treatment of victims and ensure they receive adequate medical care and humanitarian support.
