Katsina Governor Launches Program for Repentant Bandits

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has renewed his appeal to bandit operatives in the northwest forests to surrender their weapons and return to their communities. During the inauguration of 152 housing units for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Jibia Local Government Area, Radda emphasized the government's readiness to accept and rehabilitate those who genuinely abandon criminal activities and embrace peace.

He stated that the government is open to dialogue and reconciliation, encouraging individuals to lay down arms and return to their families. Radda noted that insecurity in the northwest has escalated beyond ordinary security concerns, disrupting livelihoods and social stability.

The housing project, set to be completed by October 2024, is part of the state's efforts to restore hope to victims of the crisis. Beneficiaries will receive accommodations, mattresses, blankets, cooking stoves, bags of rice, and cash grants of N200,000.

Radda described the housing units as a symbol of the government's commitment to families affected by insecurity.
