Katsina Woman Sentenced to Death for Supplying Ammunition

On September 16, 2023, Hauwa U. Mukhtar was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) at Jibia Motor Park in Katsina State while allegedly transporting 438 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition intended for a notorious bandit kingpin identified as Ado.

The Federal High Court in Katsina State, presided over by Justice B. Bawal, found Mukhtar guilty of conspiracy to commit terrorism and aiding terrorist activities linked to bandit operations in the northwest region, particularly in Zamfara State.

The court's decision followed a trial where the prosecution presented credible evidence and witnesses, establishing Mukhtar's involvement in facilitating terrorist operations. Justice Bawal sentenced her to death by hanging in accordance with the provisions of the Penal Code Law of Katsina State, 2021, after ruling that the prosecution successfully proved the charges against her beyond a reasonable doubt.
